Green power is electricity that is produced from environmentally friendly (“green”) sources such as solar, wind, biomass, landfill gas (methane) and others. Green power is different from the power sources we currently use for two major reasons: it has fewer environmental impacts than the sources we currently use to produce electricity and it is renewable which means that we will not run out of these resources. Increasingly electric utilities in Georgia are offering consumers electricity produced from these environmentally friendly to minimize or eliminate some of the environmental impacts from electricity production. Georgia has several green power resources available.
