How do I become a vendor and/or contractor with the Weatherization Assistance Program?
The Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) does not contract directly with contractors to install the weatherization measures. GEFA contracts with 22 Community Action Agencies across the state of Georgia to administer the Weatherization Assistance Program. Each agency conducts their procurement process. Please contact the agency that services the county in which you wish to work, ask about their procurement process and request to be included on their contractor list for future bidding opportunities. Please keep in mind that the agencies have been working since August 2009 on the ARRA funded contracts and may be at different stages in their process. (The list of Community Action Agencies can be found here.)
GEFA periodically conducts multi-day trainings for the weatherization network. During this time we typically offer a trade show for vendors/contractors to make contact with the service providers. Upon your request we will include you on our e-mail list to participate in such an opportunity in the future.
How do I become a weatherization service provider?
GEFA is currently under contract with 22 Community Action Agencies across the state of Georgia. GEFA held a Request for Information period that ended September 30, 2009. During this time we requested qualifications and information from non-profit organizations to keep on file should the need arise to replace an existing service provider.

How do I get trained in weatherization?
If you have basic construction knowledge, then you already have a head start. It is suggested that you receive a Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification. The Building Performance Institute offers this certification.
Weatherization training is also offered online by the Weatherization Training Institute of the School of Building Inspection. Please call 1.800.201.4390 for more information.
Southface Energy Institute in Atlanta is under contract to train the employees and contractors of the weatherization network. You may contact them to find out about classes that are available for out-of-network contractors and individuals.
