The Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) is pleased to announce a new funding opportunity for retail gasoline stations in Georgia who wish to sell E-85 gasoline. In May 2007, the State of Georgia enacted a law to provide for grants to finance installing, replacing, and converting motor fuel storage equipment to facilitate storing and dispensing E-85 gasoline for retail sale (O.C.G.A. § 50-8-170). The legislation directs GEFA to develop, implement and administer the program.

To ensure that a limited amount of funds are distributed in an efficient manner that will provide the greatest benefit to the citizens of Georgia, GEFA established a competitive application process. The application process will remain open until the remaining funds are awarded, or until the program expires.

Who can apply: Qualifying projects must be located within the State of Georgia and be in compliance with all local, state and federal laws and regulations for motor fuel storage and dispensing equipment.

What projects can be funded: Installing, replacing, or converting motor fuel storage and dispensing equipment at sites where motor fuel is stored and dispensed for retail sale such that the installed, replacement, or converted equipment shall be used exclusively for storing and dispensing E-85 gasoline for retail sale for a period of not less than five consecutive years.

When are applications being accepted: GEFA is now accepting applications for this program. In order to be considered for this grant opportunity, all participants must submit an application no later than Friday, May 29, 2009 at 5 pm EST.
